Hi! There’s an election coming up. Are you registered to vote? Are you sure? Here is how to find out.

As always, check out the audio version of this post to hear me read this post out loud (you can even subscribe to on your podcast feed so it populates automatically when it goes live, by the way!).

It is officially October and the entire world is painted golden-green. Everything is crisp and sharp. I can feel it. I can smell it. It’s some magic blend of nostalgia and fresh starts and the promise of rest. After a summer of hot sun and long days, it’s time to do things differently. It’s time to do nothing, maybe. To me, fall feels a bit like the hush after a big, noisy event. Time to clear the empty cups and plates, time to be quiet. I love it all.

I took a break for most of September. As I felt my stress and anxiety levels rising, I first inadvertently, then intentionally, stepped back from Substack posts for a few weeks. I visited family and stayed off of Instagram for more a while. I replied to emails only when I had to. I buried my head in books and happily stayed there for a bit. And if I’m honest, I fought the urge to announce, explain, and excuse all of this. Maybe it’s just the millennial in me that feels the pull to justify social media and/or work breaks, or the fact that the line between those two things is still very blurry for me.
