I would like to say that I have been friends with
ever since we took a journalism class together at the University of Florida, but oddly enough, we didn’t become good friends until after college, when we didn’t live anywhere remotely close to each other (thanks, internet!). These days, I count Ayana as one of my closest friends and subject her to exactly 200 text and video messages from me per day (give or take). I can’t tell you just how often I consider how much I would like to be as funny/talented/kind (did I say funny?) as Ayana is. I’m truly lucky to know her, and I’m constantly inspired by how she brings empathy and creativity into her various roles as a creator, journalist, writer, mother, wife, and friend.
